Cascades Waterfall - 11 November, 2012

This is part of the scenic veiw that awaits one on entering the area commonly known as Cascades approximately 12kms from our home in Taolagnaro!
Here one can also purchase plants, shrubs and trees for the garden.....Hilton and I chose to come here for our "Shabbat Fellowship". What an awe inspiring setting to fellowship around the Word of our
of our G-d and share our thoughts with each other in His Presence!!

To get here was, of course, another story!! Nothing on this mad magical island is ever straight forward! So we set off on our, by now, famous ATV, commonly called a quad bike! We last travelled this road on our way to Berenty Forest Reserve a couple of months ago......I still have to post a blog on that trip....but to get you in the mood here is a photo of what the road looked like and the enterprising young man who chose to erect a toll gate!

It was raining then........the truck got stuck......
The toll gate was erected........
Five months later.......nothing much has changed. We presume the truck got unstuck and eventually went merrily on its way...the rain abated some but then came back again so the enterprising young man is once again, (or still!) manning his toll gate! As we discovered yesterday on our trip to Cascades. The road is pretty muddied up, a truck was able to drive through the mud and we (I) had great fun driving through it on the quad. (We detoured on our way there, Hilton driving) and I got to play in the mud as driver on our way home!!) We evaded the toll gate!

Madagascar amazes one quite unexpectedly with scenery such as this. How beautiful to have a nursery situated here!

This man also takes my breath away! I'm always amazed at what goes on in his head and heart! These moments away I cherish.......

As always with Hilton......he is never satisfied with the easy way out or up! We had to ascend to the waterfall via the route on the right. Straight up as opposed to the interesting, winding, scenic path! We did however descend the path way!
There is something magic about the sound of rushing water and Cascades is no different!

Reaching the start of the waterfall............

We sat and chatted and surveyed the beauty surrounding us......

We even met this centipede (tsongololo!) along the way. Sadly missing are the birds one instinctively listens out for. One hears the birds chirping every now and then, but there doesn't seem to be a very prolific bird life in our neck of the woods.

And so we made our way back to the nursery to pay for our purchases and it was my turn to drive home!!
Just down the road, on our way back we were stopped at a little village by Emile, who is one of the Security Guards here at Green Leaves Village. Were we the surprised ones to see him! He recognised us and stopped us to say hello. We certainly were taken aback, he looked so different out of his uniform and we apologised prefusely for not recognising him when we rode passed on our way to Cascades! What a humble man and how happy we were that he stopped us to say hello.
So with a true Malagasy hand shake.......right fist to right fist, then touching the heart we were off!!

Arriving home safely with our garden purchases and a mud spattered quad bike....

Happy and content!!
