OUR MAD HOUSE! 4 October, 2012

Since our arrival back from our R & R in fair London town with our Eamon, Tamryn & Zacc our home has undergone a drastic change, all for the better of course! We now have an enclosed "island style" verandah.....so come on over for sundowners.........
You are welcome to try our local shandy called Fresh and our local beers bearing The Three Horses label! I hear via the grapevine, excuse the pun, that soon we could be shopping at our very own "Wine Shop" here in Taolagnaro (Ft. Dauphin)! So, we shall wait anxiously to see if it materialises. Hopefully some of South Africa's choicest wines will be making a very welcome appearance amongst wines from France & Australia. We (South Africa) have, I believe, the best wines in the world. But then of course I'm extremely prejudiced and not a wine drinker in the least!!!!
When you visit, unfortunately there will be no salami or cheese....unless you don't very much mind munching a Kiri cream cheese square whilst sipping your beer or wine!! Unfortunately for the South Africans that visit, no biltong either.....(unless someone makes zebu biltong or smuggles some when they come and visit!!! Maybe by the time our visitors arrive, Hilton would perhaps have mastered the art of making Majitos...... meanwhile our organically grown vegestables are sure to be a huge draw card!!!!!
An example of our first green bean crop!! We've already enjoyed tomatoes, lettuce and are waiting for the cabbages. In the meantime.....
The railings are up for the next crop of beans and tomatoes. Soon seedlings of beetroot and brocoli will be ready to plant out. Hilton is always happy with a little patch of ground to cultivate and our neighbours certainly have enjoyed our tomatoes thus far......even while we were away! I must say, there is nothing like picking fresh lettuce from the garden. The gardners here at Green Leaves Village are fantastic in helping to water our garden and keeping it neat. Even the security guards have taken a keen interest in it.
We now have a special parking place carved out for.......
our newly arrived mode of transport, our "Mercedez" (that means, top of the range as in comfort etc) ATV, or commonly known as the Quad bike!! My initial thoughts and words, when I first beheld it were: "It's the same size as a Mini!" Suffice to say, it is a dream to drive and I'm quite put out if I don't have my turn!! It has revolutionised our lives and oh what absolute bliss to be independent! We now only really need a vehicle and driver on the very odd occasion.
These are photos after our first shopping expedition.
Of course the helmet does nothing for one's hairstyle!! And let me tell you when a "hot flush" hits and the helmet is on it's like major panic to get the thing off!!! Thankfully, that doesn't happen often but add to the whole scenario a very hot day.....need I say more? But we are getting wise to all the little tricks of the trade when going out.....I definitely am going to buy a decent looking ladies backpack for one!! I will be re-thinking my hairstyle big time.....and soon, very soon you will see me whizzing around "town" the coolest chick on the block!!!
So when you come and visit, we might even let you play with our toy!!
