Green Leaves Village - Ft Dauphin/Taolagnaro

Poverty hits one in the face on arrival in Ft Dauphin. Taolagnaro is its Malagasy name.
As we travel from the airport to the village I'm very glad I left my fandangle jewelry at home. Somehow it just seems out of place here for me. Plus, as back in Port Elizabeth, summer is just too hot to wear necklaces etc.
As I look out the window of the double cab bakkie (vehicle) it could be the lowveld bush I am gazing at, so similar does the landscape appear. The mountains, the foliage, the weather......it is very humid and has been raining. The houses tell me I'm far from the South African bushveld! So do the faces of the people, despite the beautiful bouganvillae, hibiscus and oleander.
I'm excited to see my new home. Hilton carries me over the threshold of our new home (he is very brave) amidst much laughter!
This is the threshold he carried me over!!!
The garden that greets me every morning when I open my front door.
